Ellen Baker is founder of Culture2Culture, a professional development, cultural and organizational change consulting company specializing in organizational culture and global program development and implementation. Ellen’s expertise in human capital, cross-cultural communication, diversity, global teaming and collaboration, corporate culture, business protocol and the evaluation of how cultural differences impact business, stem from 30 years of management experience with international executives and diplomats in corporate America and the international arena. Ellen speaks flawless French, English and excellent Spanish, has experience in 32 countries and has resided in Europe and in Mexico. She is a dynamic consultant and trainer who excels at creating relevant and impactful programs and delivering experiential learning, which engages clients in all forums to interact. Her business acumen, networking savvy, market knowledge and keen observation and intuitive skills enable her to guide individual clients to self-discovery and prioritization of their needs in a comforting and reassuring manner. She always connects the dots…

For over 30 years Ellen has been a human resource professional and executive coach specializing in career strategy, leadership development, recruiting, talent management, development of corporate cultures, all geared to enhance employee performance. She is known for her work with corporations on developing a “Culture of Excellence”.  She also collaborates with start up ventures, helping them to form synergistic teams and unique cultural environments that foster creativity and efficiency.

Ellen is currently working as the Career Development Director for the MMCi and Master of Biostatistics programs at the Duke School of Medicine. Previously, she was an Executive Coach for 15 years at the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and Director of MBA Resources at the College of Management of NC State University. At State, she launched the MBA Career Center and developed and taught the groundbreaking Managerial and Career Effectiveness course.  Using traditional methods well as e-learning techniques and streaming video she taught graduate business students vital communication, leadership and business etiquette skills to ensure their success in corporate America. In addition, she created and taught specialized programs to international students to help them integrate into American business and understand the cultural difference between their home countries and the U.S. She consistently receives rave reviews from clients and corporations alike.

She has been an interpreter/officer for the U.S. Department of State, specializing in French West Africa, Senior Vice President of the New York Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vice President of an international commercial real estate organization, and Director of the international division of a software training company. Recent clients Culture2Culture has supported include: Syngenta, CAI, Nortel Networks, Ericsson Inc., EMC Corporation, the DCRI, GlaxoSmithKline, the Kenan Flager Business School, the North Carolina Special Olympics, Drake Beam Morin, Right Management Consultants, Dean Foster and Associates, Elon University and numerous senior executives for coaching services.  

She has served on the faculty of the American University, North Carolina State University and the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico.  She holds a Master’s degree in French Studies and a TESOL certificate from the American University in Washington, DC. She earned a Bachelors degree in French from New York University and a Certificat de Langue Française from the Université de Paris.

Ellen has appeared regularly on WRAL TV, and in the News & Observer.  In 2012 she was chosen one the most Stylish people in the Triangle by Carolina Style Magazine.  She has been featured in New York Woman Magazine, as well as in the TV series “Woman Watch” highlighting interesting and innovative women in business. The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce has recognized her as a “Business Leader” in the Triangle. She is a member of ASTD, the MBA Career Services Council, the Triangle OD Network, the Raleigh Professional Women’s Forum and the Triangle’s International Visitors Council.

BPW EVENT CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY

If you are unable to attend an event for which you have registered, you must notify the Logistics Chair by emailing logistics@bpwraleigh.org at least 48 hours before the start of the event with one of the following choices:

1.        Move the registration to the next BPW event (note that each registration fee may be moved only once);

2.        Transfer the registration to another member or guest to attend instead;

3.        Donate the registration fee to the BPW Scholarship Fund; or

4.        Refund the registration fee, less a $5 processing fee.
