Business and Professional Women (BPW) of Raleigh celebrates its 92nd anniversary on August 21, 2011.
As BPW enters its 93rd year of being an organization focused on advocacy for working women – the club is happy to share some of the minutes of the Organizational Meeting for BPW/Raleigh, held at the NC House of Representatives, Thursday August 21 1919 – 8:30pm.
“Miss Minnie Bagwell, in putting motion before the house that this association be organized, told briefly of how this had been a dream that she had hoped to see realized, and Mrs. Vaughn in seconding the motion very forcibly told the benefits to the young business women. The motion that the Raleigh Association of Business and Professional Women be organized, duly seconded, carried unanimously.”
“As we enter our 93rd year, I am excited to announce this year’s theme of Adapt, Grow, Achieve; a year-long focus on building skill-sets, experiences, and making connections,” shared BPW/Raleigh President Michelle Evans. “This theme represents our focus for programs and events and commitment to the professional and personal development of our members.”
