Join BPW/Raleigh when we volunteer at this UNC-TV event!
Every FESTIVAL, people from all over North Carolina come to the UNC-TV studios and make a difference in the lives of our children and neighbors. There is no selling or soliciting involved – volunteers simply answer the phones and take contributions from viewers.
Call out for volunteers!
Date: Saturday, March 23, 2013
Time: 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm
Details: See note below
Please send a note to Linda Karolak if you’d like to join us! Email her at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Some of the many benefits for volunteers include:
- Meals provided by some of the Triangle’s best restaurants and caterers
- Ensuring that others enjoy the privilege of having commercial free television in their homes
We are excited to have an exciting behind the scenes glimpse into the world of public television and make some new friends!
A note from Linda:
As in past years, Raleigh BPW will again volunteer for the UNC TV FESTIVAL fundraiser on Saturday, March 23, from 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm. At 2:30 pm will be the brief training for taking the pledges on air in the studio, using their computerized system. Then we will head down to the TV studio, where we will take pledges on air, and also have time "off air" when we can talk, have refreshments, network, observe the TV station.
We have gathered some names of those of you who expressed interest at our January and February dinner meetings. The invitation is out to all members, and their families, friends, and significant others! The more, the merrier! You will be doing something good for our community, and meeting fun people, and if we have 20 people volunteer, they would actually give us two 30 second spots on TV to promote BPW. Teens in your family aged 14 years or older are encouraged to volunteer with us as a community service project!
Solid color clothes, or "gentle patterns" work best on air, so maybe let's decide to wear something red, to identify ourselves as a group! Wear comfortable shoes, as the walk down the hall to the rest rooms is a bit of a hike. The studio is kept on the cool side, to provide for the numerous lights and equipment that must be used while on air, so a jacket or sweater is a good idea.
They will have refreshments provided for us, including coffee, tea, soft drinks, and popcorn.
Gloria Howell is our Volunteer Coordinator at the TV station, and she knows us from the many years we have volunteered, and welcomes us each year. She understands if you can't stay the entire shift, so even if you need to leave before 7 pm that day, please come, and we can work around that.
Thanks much!...come out, and have some fun!
